Types of Benefit Programs

VA Aid and Attendance Benefit
• When a Veteran qualifies, they get money monthly to spend on any kind of medical expenses
• Three ways for a family to secure this benefit
o Do it themselves (lengthy with a lot of paperwork)
o Hire an attorney (expensive but handled by a professional)
o Vet Assist – organization that does paperwork and payment
• Payment of services
o Comes directly from the family OR
o Vet Assist pays you directly

VA Homemaker Benefit
•Each area has own local rate that is paid to contracted agencies
• Rates have skyrocketed and go up each year
• Eligibility is based on medical need (not income)
• Average client is 16 hours per week

• Payment for services:
o Integrate Change Healthcare with Wellsky
o Submit invoicing electronically in Wellsky
o Wellsky sends information to Change Healthcare
o Change Healthcare submits information to Third-Party Administrator
o Third-Party Administrator approves submission
o Third-Party Administrator submits payment into your account
